Family

This is Mary's family. From the viewer's perspective, her mother is to Mary's left, her younger brother Shawn to her right, and her father (who permanently wears a red heart tie) hovers over protectively in the background.

Mary has always felt...adopted...somehow. She is far more quiet and introverted than the rest of her family, and she often finds their company tedious and bothersome. Shawn and Mary don't quite see eye to eye, but this is more reason for avoidance of each other's company than reason for open conflict.

Anyhow, Mary is relieved to be left alone most of the time.
